Resin Blending and Compounding
The polymeric antimicrobial powder PolymerSafe 1000 Antimicrobial can be dry blended into the bulk resin by any variety of standard mixing operations. The powder will adhere to the surface of the bulk resin particles and become homogeneously mixed. Following mixing the PolymerSafe 1000 Antimicrobial into the host resin, it is ready for molding, extrusion, or other thermoplastic processes to make the €nished good. Care should be taken to keep this mixture in a dry environment. In certain resins it is recommended that the mixture be dried before it is used.

Loading Level
Dependent upon the €nished goods requirement for ecacy, one can use between 1 part per thousand to 10 parts per thousand of PolymerSafe 1000 Antimicrobial to base resin by weight (0.1%- 1%). PolymerSafe 1000 Antimicrobial is dispersed throughout the polymer matrix via blending followed by polymer processing (i.e. thermoplastic, thermoset, etc.)

Process Temperature
A process temperature of<300 °C is preferred, but it is time, temperature, and aerobic dependent. 

STORAGE AND DISPOSAL
Do not contaminate water, food, or feed by storage or disposal.
STORAGE: Store in original, tightly closed container in an area inaccessible to children and away from food or feed. PolymerSafe 1000 Antimicrobial is moisture sensitive. Keep tightly closed until ready to use. Reclose tightly after each use. When stored in original, unopened containers at or below 25°C (77°F), PolymerSafe 1000 Antimicrobial has a minimum shelf life of 24 months from the date of shipment.

PESTICIDE DISPOSAL: Pesticide wastes are toxic. Improper disposal of excess pesticide, spray mixture, or rinsate is a violation of Federal Law. If these wastes cannot be disposed of by use according to label instructions, contact your State Pesticide or Environmental Control Agency, or the Hazardous Waste representative at the nearest EPA
Regional Office for guidance.

CONTAINER HANDLING:
For containers less than or equal to 5 gallons: Non-Refillable Container. Do not reuse or refill this container. Triple rinse container (or equivalent) promptly after emptying. Triple rinse as follows: Empty the remaining contents into application equipment or a mix tank and drain for 10 seconds after the flow begins to drip. Fill the container ¼ full with water and recap. Shake for 10 seconds. Pour rinsate into application equipment or a mix tank or store rinsate for later use or disposal. Drain for 10 seconds after the flow begins to drip. Repeat this procedure two more times. Then offer for recycling if available or puncture and dispose of in a sanitary landfill or by incineration.

For containers greater than 5 gallons: Non-Refillable Container.

Fill the container ¼ full with water. Recap and tighten closures. Tip container on its side and roll it back and forth, ensuring at least one complete revolution, for 30 seconds. Stand the container on its end and tip it back and forth several times. Turn the container over onto its other end and tip it back and forth several times. Empty the rinsate into application equipment or a mix tank or store rinsate for later use or disposal. Repeat this procedure two more times. Then offer for recycling if available or puncture and dispose of in a sanitary landfill, or by incineration.

PRECAUTIONARY STATEMENTS

HAZARDS TO HUMANS AND DOMESTIC ANIMALS

CAUTION: Causes moderate eye irritation. Avoid contact with eyes or clothing. Wear goggles or safety glasses. Wash thoroughly with soap and water after handling and before eating, drinking, chewing gum, using tobacco or using the toilet.

ENVIRONMENTAL HAZARDS
This pesticide is toxic to fish and aquatic invertebrates. Do not discharge effluent containing this product into lakes, streams, ponds, estuaries, oceans or other waters unless in accordance with the requirements of a National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permit and the permitting authority has been notified in writing prior to discharge. Do not discharge effluent containing this product to sewer systems without previously notifying the local sewage treatment plant authority. For guidance contact your State Water Board or Regional Office of the EPA.

Every effort should be made to contain accidental spills of powder to the immediate area. Many spills may be cleaned up alone or with sand or absorbent materials by sweeping and collection in a waste bin. The material may then be disposed of by incineration or landfill.

Inactivation of solutions containing PolymerSafe 1000 Antimicrobial may be accomplished by addition of an anionic surfactant, or detergent in quantity equivalent to that of PolymerSafe 1000 Antimicrobial in solution.

PolymerSafe 1000 Antimicrobial renders compounds inherently antimicrobial. The organosilicon technology is more cost-effective and faster acting than silver-based additives, avoids discoloration, and is non-leaching.

This new antimicrobial protects plastics from staining and degradation caused by bacteria, mold, mildew, and fungi. PolymerSafe 1000 Antimicrobial does not migrate, diffuse, or leach out of the protected plastic.
